LaChapelle-Photography

WowWowWow!
David LaChapelle. Need I say more? Ever since a photography lecture last year, when we watched a hour long documentary on him, I have admired his work and his amazing website! I love the vibrancy and playfulness of his photography. The mix of advertisement, fine art photography and fashion create a unique style which no-one else can pull of as well as him. If only I was a celebrity and had the pleasure of being photographed by such a photographic genius!

Portfolio:Hemophobia

original work
Hemophobia: the fear of blood.
There is nothing attractive and nothing pretty about the word phobia. Through research I discovered that people who suffer from Hemophobia have a fear of their own, others and animals blood. In a way, this project had me written all over it; the chance to be hands-on and artistic. I wanted to find a happy medium between type and image, which 'fingers-crossed' I accomplished. 'Fear flows through me' conveys two meanings, first being that the sufferer feels a surge of fear and panic, and secondly that the source of this fear is (to put it bluntly) flowing through them. Don't worry...the sink received a good bleaching afterwards.

Pez-StopframeAnimation!

Don't play with your food!

I was browsing through some stop-frame animations on youtube and
stumbled across "Western Spagetti". I thought it was brilliant! Post-it
note butter...perfect! Then I went on to discover it was the 2009
Sundance Film Festival winner and TIME Magazine voted it the
second best Viral Video of the year. Congrats!

Misfits-PromoVideo

Misfits (new comedy drama)
I sat down and watched the new comedy drama showing on E4 called Misfits. It seems to be a messed up mix between Skins and Heros, so it was right up my street. Seeing the electric promo made me interested straight away! It was created by The Mill, Jason Delahunty and Neil Gorringe, who combined created an intense, exciting and bold promo. There is a heavy amount of VFX used, this makes it different and more intense than any advert on TV at the moment!

"Bless the mess"
Okay...so ever since I can remember (or maybe just ever since GCSE art), Sabrina Ward Harrison has been my idol! Mixed media is at the soul of her work, combining writing, artwork, beautiful photography and video. She has such an individual and exciting approach to her work which I admire completely! I would love to wander around her art studio for a day, dig my toes in the Sabrina Ward Harrison sand!

DavidBlazquez-Photography

Taking man-made furniture to the extreme?
David Blázquez! Wow! His 'human furniture' photography is fun, quirky and a little startling. I love how Blázquez sets about to challenge the viewer; taking household objects (dining tables, book shelves, baths) and replacing them with the nude form. The purpose of his work is to make the viewer start to wonder whether furniture has feelings and emotions, make you believe that all the objects around you are capable of watching you...probably not! But still, good work David!
